HAMMER AND TONG MY LAPTOP SMELLS LIKE IT'S BURNING!!!

I shouldn't have stayed up last night using it till 3 a.m. School's starting 2morrow and I look like a zombie. (I still have these dark circles).

Meh. Thats all I gotta say. Btw, I just finished reading this awesome book entitled “Empire in Black and Gold” by Adrian Tchaikovsky (no, I can't pronounce his surname either) and it is so awesome. I am dying to read the sequel. Read a review about it here:

"...Unlike a lot of fantasy series that take place in a pseudo-medieval world, the Lowlands and its surrounding environs owe more to steampunk and the industrial age than it does Camelot. So don’t expect castles, wizards, knights in shining armor, or dragons. Instead, look for artificers, secret spy sects, dueling societies, the Olympic-like Great Games, gangsters, cities fueled by commerce and industry, and such technological advances as orthopters, lighter-than-air fliers, repeating crossbows, grenades, automobiles, engine-mills, and a lightning engine locomotive."

Also, I want to share with you an interesting article I indulge in a few hours ago: 13 Good tips for 2010 and life. by *petrova
I feel like it could use more attention so check it out when you have the time. =) There is also this group I stumble upon: :icondalinksystem: I plan to learn more about it in the future. Just thought I should mention that.

Until I return from school tomorrow, farewell then. :floating:

2010.

Would you think it's wrong when an artist is more popular than his artworks?

Nah, just something I've been wondering about. Oh, and I just wanna say that I've been going through my :+fav: collections yesterday and I remembered all those artworks I saw when I first came to dA. Those were the days when I was so amazed by the greatness and wonder of the site and the variety of artworks. The moments when I squealed every time somebody :+fav:ed my art piece or stopped by to comment. I remembered those times when I didn't know what fractal art is, and what digital medias are and how people work with it ...those were the times I was truly amazed by dA. Because I didn't know anything. And then there were those times when I felt good giving out critiques and constructive comments and the shocked/thrilled responses other deviants give. (There were also anger and stubbornness too) Everything then has been such a wonder to me. And throughout the weeks and months I got more and more familiar with the place. Recently, its even almost like a home to me.

But...thats not fully a compliment. I've been feeling like I'm not going anywhere with my artworks anymore. I keep painting and drawing and sketching and yet, I look at my gallery and think that these pictures aren't gonna make people go "Wow". I have so many ideas, so many concepts to share but I have this sense that it won't make people here want to tell me how great or horrible it is. I just wish to create something that will inspire people. That will inspire them so much it would make them want to say something about it. I wanna make something that will make someone want to comment my work not because I ask them to, or not because they feel obliged to because they're my friend but because they want to.

*sigh* For those of you who think I'm whining, I'm NOT. I've had so many people in my life telling me that its no use moaning over things that can never change. But I'm just retrospecting. Thats what I do. There's a reason why our past is a part of us too. And this, this can change. I know what I'm gonna do now. This year, 2010, I'm gonna rediscover my artistic abilities. I'm gonna go back to where I started and I'm gonna try out different techniques and use every single ideas that pop into this scatterbrain of mine. I don't care if I'm taking SPM this year. I don't care that my mom banned me from drawing. Fuck exams. I'll still draw, its not like I won't study at all or anything. I'll pass my exams AND get better with my artworks. Guess I found my new 2010's resolution.

Do you believe that art is a is an extension of the artist-- a mere representation or expression of it's creator-- or do you think art takes on a different personality? That it is a creation in itself? (I doubt the answer would be both.)

Hey 'all,

nah, don't worry 'bout commenting on this journal. I just want to shove out the old one. Harhar, guess what. I'm not in lurker mode anymoar. :devilish: You know, I just wanna say that its so good to be able to browse around dA until midnight now that I finally settled down in my house instead of running around everywhere this holidays. But man, this year flew by so fast. High school starts at 4th January. *sigh* High school is such a bore. Good news is, one more year of high school then I get to go driving school and college!! I'm so close to the beginning of my dreams.

Oh, do you guys know about :iconzumiya:'s contest? Click here for more details: [link] The theme is "Monster in a Candystore". Come on, tell me thats an interesting theme. If you feel that your creative juice has been low these past few days than I recommend you to join this. Hey, maybe you won't reach the deadline (which has been extended till January) and maybe you won't win anything but what if you have fun staying up at night dedicating your skills on something you have a goal on? What if you attract more attention than normal being a part of this contest? What if you discover a new experience?

Now...be a good sport for me and at least check out the contest journal. ;]

One more thing, have you heard of TED before? Noooo, not Ted Bundy. That guy's a lunie. TED is a nifty site that has all these talks about new ideas on global problems, education, creativity and stuff. And recently, I saw this talk by John Wooden about 'True Success'. No, he isn't talking about business and money exchanges or anything. Just...what it means to achieve. I find it really interesting because not only did the guy speak out his own opinions (sometimes jokingly too) but he also inserts some poetry into his talk. If you have the time, it would really be great if you could watch the video: [link]

Here's a poem Mr. John Wooden spoke of in the video:

No written word,
no spoken plea,
can teach our youth
what they should be,
nor all the books
on all the shelves
is what the teachers are themselves.

At God's footstool, to confess,
A poor soul knelt and bowed his head.
"I failed," he cried. The master said,
"Thou didst thy best. That is success."

Hey,hey, hey!!! Don't you think its so cool that dA is letting ALL deviants use the journal skin for a while? I ADORE this skin. Its so fabulously made by =trashydragon. I've been a fan of her journal designs for ages. I remember my first one from her is Evening Tranquility. Ain't it just fascinating? You guys should check out her gallery. Its awesome. And, oh gosh, I remembered that one time when I was a Premium Member was cause of ~Cor-I-ander's generosity. So you guys better show some love and check out his gallery too! His photographs are great....But I wonder why he's not so active now. Miss you much, my friend.
